I learned that sometimes you can't thing too much about art. In some cases it can be like trial and error but you just got to start with an idea that you would like. This technique was hard because I didn't know what to make it into so I kinda just started to cut the cup and make shapes out of it even if I didn't have a very good plan it still worked out okay. This piece was successful because there ended up being many parts to it and that parts came together as one. If I were to do this again I would add more cups and pieces to it because I think it would look better if it wasn't so simple.
This turtle is a pinch pot and I learned that to make one it would be easiest to have news paper to help you with keeping its shape. When you are using clay you should try to get as much done as possible so the clay has a better chance of not drying out. This piece was successful because it didn't explode when heating and the paint did go on very well. One thing that I would change it how I painted it and what colors I used. I think the turtle would have looked better with brighter colors and more clean paint lines.
It was very interesting making this piece because it was hard to get detail on it but it was very easy to go with my imagination and make a bird out of newspaper. This piece worked well because I made the wings like a fan that spreads out and it would flap very nicely. Something I would consider changing it the detail I got to do on the head and tail, i should have tried taking another piece of newspaper and making a better shaped head.
